When we arrived it was
already thriving with canoes |
We were ready for this
outing |
...so we buckled up |
| |
..and hit the river |
It seemed like a nice
"peaceful" river |
...and so far it looked
peaceful |
| |
..and even Bill thought so |
...but wait, what is that
up ahead? |
Gee wiz, what's going on? |
| |

Could it be? |

Yes, our first mishap, Tony
and Teresa |
| |
Tony thought it was funny |
| |

I am not sure what Teresa
was thinking! |
..but it was not only us
that felt the "cool" water |
It was tragedy for several |
| |

...but again it was not! |
But again the river was
peaceful! |
Was this Tony and Teresa
again? |
| |

Yes I believe it was! |
...as Tony tries to
retrieve his paddle |
...and as Brenda tries to
consol Teresa |
| |
But once again the river
was peaceful |
Surely this was not "them"
again? |
Yes, but surely it was.
Was this #3? |
| |
And here comes Char and
Darwin. They had three flips in the river themselves. |
Brent and Brandi could not
figure out why so many folks were turning their canoes over. It looked
peaceful to them. |
...and it did look
peaceful. |
| |

This is a rare picture of
Teresa and Tony, actually in their canoe floating "upright"! |

...but now for lunch at
California Point |
| |
Several folks had the same
idea we had |
| |
The Trigg's lunch |
Keith and Dianne and Casper
enjoying their lunch |
Brandi and Brent |
| |
It was good to be the shade
again |
While we wait for Tony's
cookies (Hope they are not wet) |
...and a few of our special
guests arrive |
| |

...and there is David
(Crazy Dave) |
You've got to be crazy to
jump off of that |
But there goes David |
| |

...Son's and daughter's of
the pioneers |

and Casper |
| |
...and ole grandpa, himself |
| |
...and Darwin with a big
knot on his right leg |
..and his canoeing partner,
Char |
...and Karen |
| |
| |
...and the whole bunch on
California Point with a few guest from the Ozark Highland Trail Association
who were spending the night on the river. Hello Roy and Norma. |
| |

But it was time to hit the
river again |
Dale and Barbara make it
look so easy |
If you look real close, you
will see a girl doing a back flip, real crazy! |
| |

Our next stop |
| |
Some had to park their
canoes where ever they could |
...so off we go on our
hike, we are HIKERS you know |
| |
...and there it was,
Hemmed-In Hollow Falls |
...and Char under the falls |
...and David getting wet |
| |

..and Danny and Brenda |
Wondering where the water
was coming from, duh! |
Our good friend Deena from
Memphis |
| |
Enjoying just sitting down
on "solid ground" |
...and resting |
...and visiting |
| |
It was a very nice day to
be on the river |
...even though we had to
help ourselves along at times |
Even Tony and Teresa had a
good day (Five flips in one day, a new TAKAHIK record. Way to go guys) |
| |
Some made it a family
outing |
...like David and Harrison
and Josh |
The Mighty Buffalo River, a
great Arkansas Treasure. We'll be back again. We'll try for yet
another TAKAHIK record. |
