BUFFALO RIVER TRAIL (PONCA TO STEEL CREEK) 2/24/07

Our access to the BRT

Yes, it was just beginning to rain

Our destination, not far

Hoods up and away we go

This would be typical for the day-NO hikers!

A very strange site.  Not Vic, the rock and tree.

The woods were quite, still and WET!

A better view could be found

If they only knew how far down it was!

Yes, hoods still up and yes it was still  raining.

This creek BEFORE....

.....and AFTER the rain.

Stairway

Stairway with people

A lot of nice rock bluffs

Rock bluffs and columns

...and more bluff lines along the trail

...and more fractured rock bluffs

This is where we also ate lunch.  You gotta do what you gotta do.

We made it to Steel Creek

...and now down to the Buffalo

No sure how these trees survive?

...or even us at times

Janie and Tristan. She looks a little wet!

Can you tell which way the river flows?

Exploring the river and its rock formations

This is a good example of how the river banks stay put

Some of the shear bluffs along the river trail

...and getting a good picture of them

Hiking back through a Beech Tree forest

Hiking close to the edge....

...and see views like these

...and crossing waterfalls along the way

Vic exiting the trail

and Tristan and Janie

...and Carol and Debora

Will Debora return?????

...we know they will

...and Carol will be back.

Didn't get to see the swans, but did see a few Elk
