HAW-GEE CREEK 11/27/10

Arriving at Haw Creek Campgrounds

The first part of the hike was UPHILL!

As soon as Heidi gets down...we will hike!

But then it was DOWNHILL and level

Hi Darwin

Mile Marker 103 on the OHT

Not much water, but plenty before we would get done!

Our first Gee Creek crossing

Waiting for the others to get across

Tristan

Gary

Mile Marker 102 on the OHT... I think we are going backwards?

We found the old chimney

Not much other evidence of a house site

Us at the old homesite

A shelter behind the chimney

Doing some exploring

Indians could have stayed here

Crossing Gee Creek the Second time

A nice feed lot in the middle of nowhere!

Crossing Gee Creek the Third time

Oops!

Crossing Gee Creek the Fourth time

Crossing Gee Creek the Fifth time

Vic takes the easy way

Heidi didn't really need any help, but dad was always there.

Another oops!

Crossing Gee Creek the Sixth  time

Crossing Gee Creek the Seventh time

Crossing Gee Creek the Eighth time.....really!

Crossing Gee Creek the Tenth time

.... finally crossing Gee Creek the Eleventh time!

We finally reach Hwy. 123

Now out!

Arriving back at Haw Creek Campgrounds

Now to the Fontenot's for lunch

What a spread and well worth the wait

.... and lots of desserts, not that we eat desserts!

Connie Fontenot, our host.  And storyteller!

Now out to Darwin's shop

Linda showed us how the violin sounds

Even some hikers are accomplished violin players!

Some of Darwin's work
