REDDING SPY ROCK LOOP 4/03/10

Ready to tackle the 9-miles

Redding Campground

We finally arrive!

Crossing the highway was the most dangerous part

We would follow the "blue" from this point on

It was damp, mossy and rocky

Some was downhill going uphill!

The woods were beautiful

Most was uphill for awhile....but not bad!

.... and found where someone had been digging for "GOLD"!

We found the pine tree with the blue cross....

Our first sighting of Spy Rock across the way

(We ought to be there by noon)

Stephen joined us but forgot something .... can you tell what? Answer later!

We made it 3.5 miles and to the road

Clay and Peggy in deep discussion

...and now a little uphill to the intersection

We let the dogs lead the hike

Arriving at the West-East Loop intersection

.... and the connection of the OHT

Brenda, Carol and David

Answer: Shoes!

Chuck made it

Spy Rock next!

...but first a little rest on a log

Peggy and Clay made it

Gary made it

Kirby made it

David and Harrison made it

Gloria made it

Kathy made it (She was in training for Colorado)

These folks made it, but I am not sure what shape they are in?

Really they are in good shape ... just waiting to go again.

Deena and Maggie made it (all the way from Memphis)

Now that we made it (Half way) onward to Spy Rock

Someone's camp site

Someone's escargot

Harrison at Spy Rock

70 degrees and a nice view

Make shift sign for Spy Rock

We picked a perfect day

Nice advertising

Yuko finds her spot

Did I mention Carol made it?

Views from Spy Rock looking West

Danny and Brenda

Chuck ... The One Amigo

Chuck and Danny ... The Two Amigos...where is #3?

Heading out

We would back track for a little bit

All wore boots except Stephen "The Barefoot Hiker"

The East Loop had all the water

.... and waterfalls

Peggy is smiling now, but she still has to drive back to Benton!

Rest stop

Ron says it is time for the "opossum" socks

Yuko is trying to decide if she needs to tie her boots!

Gary in the lead

Stephen actually hiked the entire 9 miles ....barefoot! Really!

Our second waterfall

We lined the highway for several minutes ..... resting!

Just like Peggy, Deena  and Maggie are smiling now ...but they still have to drive back to Memphis.

Arriving back at Highway 215

Someone lost their truck keys.  Oh, they were in their back pocket!

We never do a hike unless we can jump across a creek

.... so that's what we did.

Ah, this place was looking good after 9 miles!

It was a great day, a great hike, great weather and great folks. Thanks Peggy for suggesting it.
