PINNACLE MT. 4/16/11

Arriving at West Summit Trailhead

I hope they mean at 8:35 "P.M."

I believe we will go up and over!

Didn't want to see this sign!

We followed this little girl for a long ways....she was a talker!

The sign on the left said dogs had to be "on a leash".  I wonder if "in a backpack" will do????

This is where the trail was just paint on rocks!

We were beginning to get to see some of the valley below half way up.

Crazy!

Bill makes it to the top first!

From one to ten, how do you rate this trail?

Some of the others went the wrong way.

Ron

Bill

David

Brenda and Danny and again Bill!

For the most part....this was US.

Mary trying to figure out how to take a movie with her camera.

Panoramic view from the top of Pinnacle Mt.

This was our way down.

....and this was our way down.

...and this!

Again.....Crazy!

We appreciated this sign.

Bean had it made once again.

Without these, you would get lost.

These were the "Hallelujah" rocks.

We made it up to the top and now back to the bottom.....

....and now to finish the trail to the parking lot.

We had hiked the West Summit to the top and the East Summit to the bottom.

Now we were heading along the Ouachita Trial to David's secret spot on the Big Maumelle for lunch.

We knew we were in the big city.

Ouachita Trail markings

Nothing coming.

We were wondering where David was taking us!

Ah.......a swamp!

Not really a swamp, a nice quiet place at an old bridge crossing on the Big Maumelle

Bean got to eat chicken, but when he was done, he was done!

Terry went from red to blue to red to .........

Pinnacle Mt. in the background.

We just came from the top of that mountain!

What a nice field

A green thing!

A stripped thing!

A steep hill thing!

From one of our fans:  This is actually a Apple Gail created by the Cynipid Wasp. The larva is produced and crawls out of this cocoon.

This was actually a dead raccoon lying on the trail. It will eventually turn your stomach!

And this is actually a steep hill.  It will eventually make your legs sore!

It eventually turns brown and hollow.

This is the end of the Ouachita Trail

We made it, now to the Visitors Center

A beautiful Fringe Tree in full bloom

David Werling our hike leader.

A great hike, perfect weather.....thanks David.

Some of the "wild" animals we saw

If we only knew what Bean was thinking!!!!!

This one was more "Bean" sized.

Looking out at the Arkansas River.

Did I mention what a beautiful day?
